Our Committees

Merchants Committee

The Merchants Committee advocates for a positive economic environment for local merchants and business owners in downtown Cary. We work closely with the Town of Cary and the Chamber of Commerce to ensure the needs of small business are being communicated to those that can make a difference.

Events Committee

At the beginning of each fiscal year, the Events Committee submits to the Board of Directors for approval, committee goals and identifies up to three (3) main events along with a proposed budget that it recommends for the Association to either produce or co-produce. The committee is responsible for making policy and procedure recommendations to the Board of Directors to be followed by future volunteers for the purpose of insuring the continuity of subsequent events. At a minimum, the committee and its members must conduct its business in a way that is consistent with the mission and purpose of the Association.

Marketing & Technology Committee

The technology committee is responsible for managing and updating the website, social media and electronic communication with members.

Membership Committee

The Membership committee is responsible for recruiting, supporting, and engaging both potential and existing members of the Association. The Membership Committee is also responsible for maintaining an accurate and current membership database and helping communicate events and programs to both members and the local community.

Volunteer Committee

At times, we’ll receive requests for support from the Town of Cary or other nonprofit organizations. The Volunteer Committee is made up of individuals who are open to donating their time towards these causes on a consistent basis. If you’re looking for a way to get involved in the community in a structured group setting, this committee is for you.

    Connected to the Heart of Downtown Cary since 1997

    Our Mission is to inform, engage, support and empower merchants, organizations, and residents of Downtown Cary.

    We do it by hosting membership meetings that feature speakers, announcements on current events in downtown and a meal. We also host events that bring people to downtown Cary and political forums. Members are encouraged to become involved through committees and by serving on the Board of Directors.

    The Heart of Cary Association is governed by a Board of Directors. The Board oversees all committees. We have recently formed a merchants’ committee. Soon we will also form committees for nonprofits and residents. These committees will represent our three main stakeholders, and will meet to ensure that their interests are being taken into account within the Heart of Cary Association.
