Downtown Cary App

Downtown Cary App

The Heart of Cary Association has partnered with Code for Cary, a part of Code for America, to create an app for Downtown Cary! This work is a fully volunteer effort supported by a 2017 Lazy Daze Arts & Crafts Grant from the Town of Cary.

Initial goals:
Provide a full directory of businesses and organizations in Downtown Cary
Show users where parking spaces are in relation to points of interest and businesses

Next meeting(s):
Wednesday, 7 November, 6:30-8:00pm, Cary Innovation Center
Come out and code! We’re working on mobile apps (iOS/Android) and a web page (ReactJS + Leaflet). Want to learn – Join us! We’re a friendly bunch! At this Meetup we’ll show some progress – then code toward the goal of getting the app ready to deploy and the web page ready to use.

Code for Cary Hack Day: Saturday, 10 November, 10 am-4 pm, Cary Innovation Center
This will be an extended hack session to build out the pieces of our Parking App and hopefully finish the MVP for demo and feedback!

Connected to the Heart of Downtown Cary since 1997

Our Mission is to inform, engage, support and empower merchants, organizations, and residents of Downtown Cary.

We do it by hosting membership meetings that feature speakers, announcements on current events in downtown and a meal. We also host events that bring people to downtown Cary and political forums. Members are encouraged to become involved through committees and by serving on the Board of Directors.

The Heart of Cary Association is governed by a Board of Directors. The Board oversees all committees. We have recently formed a merchants’ committee. Soon we will also form committees for nonprofits and residents. These committees will represent our three main stakeholders, and will meet to ensure that their interests are being taken into account within the Heart of Cary Association.
